ECOSCREED STANDARD

A ECO-FRIENDLY FLOWING CALCIUM SULPHATE THICK SECTION
INTERNAL FLOOR SCREED (UNBONDED FORMAT Min 30mm)

Description
Ecoscreed is a pre-mixed, bulk flowing floor screed based upon a special hard variety of calcium sulphate. The product is eco-friendly and is 100% recycled incorporating recycled glass as a replacement of natural sand "eco-sand" and calcium sulphate derived from the de-sulphurisation of coal fired power stations.

The screed can be laid thinner than conventional screeds and up to 1000m² per day at 50mm can be achieved, thereby making it highly competitive in overall time and cost savings compared with conventional sand and cement screeds.

It should be installed either as an unbonded screed or as a floating system in both new and refurbishment projects.

Ecoscreed is ideal for use where underfloor heating and cavity floor systems are being installed, as the very fluid nature of the flowing screed allows full encapsulation and contact with the heating pipes and cavity floor elements. The screed is not designed as a final wearing finish.

Ecoscreed has a compressive strength of > 10.0 N/mm² at 1 day and 30 N/mm² at 28 days. Ecoscreed is delivered in bulk format direct to site via our 5 cubic metre capacity volumetric mixer trucks or for larger contracts via our on site mobile powder silo system used in conjunction with our mixer pump trucks. The product is only mixed and placed once the vehicle has arrived on site.

Ecoscreed is suitable for all types of floor covering but should generally not be used as the final floor finish. Once laid, the screed should not be exposed to excessive drafts.

It is recommended that prior to the laying of the final finish that the surface should be primed using Primer AP 1000 and the primer allowed to fully dry particularly where cementitious tile adhesives are to be used.

ECOSCREED RAPID

RAPID DRYING ECO-FRIENDLY CEMENTITIOUS FLOWING THICK SECTION
INTERNAL FLOOR SCREED

Description
Ecoscreed Rapid is a premixed, protein free, rapid drying cementitious internal pumpable flowing screed. It has been specifically designed for thick section flooring applications where speed of return to service is of the essence and where final floor finishes need to be installed without delay. Ecoscreed Rapid incorporates 100% replacement of natural sand by recycled glass and is therefore more environmentally friendly than any conventional floor screed containing quarried aggregate or sand. The product can be delivered via the Ecoscreed bulk volumetric mixer truck and mobile powder silo.

Ecoscreed Rapid has been designed to provide an answer to the problem of slow drying times associated with existing conventional pumped alpha-hemihydrate / anhydrite calcium sulphate or sand and cement screeds.

Alpha -hemihydrate / anhydrite calcium sulphate or sand and cement screeds dry out at an approximate rate of 1mm per day up to 40mm and even more than that for greater thicknesses, which on many fastrack construction programs creates inconvenient and costly delays.

Ecoscreed Rapid has the ability to utilise its' advanced formulation to rapidly hydrate and bind the mix water within the cementitious hydrate structure of the material ensuring that the material can be walked on after 4 hours at a thickness of 50mm and final floor finishes can be applied after 7 days at 20oC.

When delays in construction time are critical Ecoscreed Rapid provides the answer with its' rapid drying and laying capabilities. It can be laid thinner than conventional screeds and up to 1000m² per day at 50mm can be achieved, thereby making it highly competitive in overall time and cost savings compared with slow drying calcium sulphate screeds or ready-mix screeds.

Ecoscreed Rapid has a compressive strength of > 12.0 N/mm² at 1 day and > 25.0 N/mm² at 28 days. It can be installed as either a bonded, unbonded or floating system in both new build or refurbishment projects. The material is ideal for cavity systems and under floor heating installations. Ecoscreed Rapid once laid and dappled, displays a smooth sealed surface texture.

ECOSCREED RAPID 24 Screed

RAPID DRYING CEMENTITIOUS FLOOR SCREED

Description
Ecoscreed RAPID 24 Screed is a rapid drying conventional cementitious screed. The screed will achieve a minimum compressive strength of

> 25 N/mm² and will be dry enough to receive floor coverings after 1 days at 20ºC .The material should be laid like any other sand/cement conventional screed.

NB. If floor coverings are to be installed after 24 hours then it is important to check that the concrete substrate is sufficiently dry prior to application of the Ecoscreed Rapid 24 Screed.

Design Use
Ecoscreed Rapid 24 Screed can be used to produce either a bonded, unbonded or floating internal screed. The cement screed is specifically designed to provide both rapid drying and early foot traffic access.

Prior to overlaying with vinyl then prime with ECOSCREED Primer AP1000 and apply a smooth coating of Ecoscreed Leveller.

Substrate Preparation
The preparation of substrates by mechanical methods such as shotblasting , scabbling or diamond grinding are considered the most effective means of providing a suitable mechanical key. The concrete substrate should be hard, sound and free from dirt, dust, oil, grease, paint, plaster, laitance or other contaminants, which could act as a barrier to adhesion. On direct to earth concrete floors ensure that a suitable damp proof membrane is installed.

Bonded Screed
Ecoscreed Rapid 24 screed can be applied as a bonded screed to dry concrete surfaces by using a creamy grouting slurry produced by mixing 1 part Ecoscreed Rapid 24 screed cement powder to 1part clean sand and the required amount of ECOSCREED Primer AP1000 to produce a creamy slurry. NB. The Ecoscreed Rapid 24 screed should always be applied and compacted to the substrate whilst the grouting slurry is still wet.

Unbonded/Floating Screed
Always ensure that the concrete substrate is sound and true, flat and free of debris prior to the laying of the separating polythene and / or insulation layer. Do not use the polythene since the folds can act as crack inducers

Mixing
The Ecoscreed Rapid 24 Screed is delivered to site in the Ecoscreed bulk mixer truck holding 10 cubic metres of screed.

Application
Once mixed, the Ecoscreed Rapid 24 Screed should be applied immediately and will have a working time of approximately 30 minutes at 20ºC. Only mix the required amount to allow correct application and finish trowelling to take place. The applied screed should not be subjected to direct sunlight or through wind drafts whilst curing.

Thickness
Bonded Screed - Ecoscreed Rapid 24 Screed can be applied as a bonded screed to a minimum thickness of 25mm and a maximum thickness of 49mm .

Unbonded/Floating Screed - The standard mix of Ecoscreed Rapid 24 Screed is suitable for a minimum thickness of 50mm in one single application.

Precautions
Ecoscreed Rapid 24 Screed is non hazardous in normal use. The presence of cement in the product gives an alkaline screed which may cause irritation if prolonged contact with the skin takes place. Care should be taken to avoid inhalation or ingestion of dust and prevent contact with the eyes. Wear suitable protective gear.

Technical Data
Working Time @ 20ºC : 30 minutes approx at 20ºC (Temperature dependent)
Compressive Strength : >25 N/mm² at 28 days
Tensile Strength :>5 N/mm² at 28 days

Isolation
In accordance general codes of practice it is recognized that all isolation joints, construction joints and columns joints should be isolated or maintained through the product to allow both it and the substrate to move freely relative to all fixed parts of any building.

Ecoscreed provides the above data in good faith, without warranty and as a guide to typical values only. The company reserves the right to alter the data at any time. No liability can or will be accepted for any loss or damage arising from subsequent water damage after the screed has been laid. We refer also to our standard Terms and Conditions of Sale that are available on request. This data should not be taken as a specification.
