ECOSCREED
TILE ADHESIVE
THIN
OR THICK BED TILE ADHESIVE FOR INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL
USE
Description
ECOSCREED
Tile Adhesive is cement based adhesive for all types
of floor and wall tiles. The material is available
in either white or grey and consists of high quality
synthetic resins, special cements, graded sands and
selected fillers. When mixed with water it forms an
extremely versatile tile adhesive suitable for both
thin and thick bed applications. When applying ECOSCREED
Tile Adhesive to gypsum plaster surfaces or to absorbent
and non-absorbent sub-floors then ECOSCREED Primer
AP1000 must be used in accordance to the priming instructions
given. Where a flexible adhesive is required, mix
with ECOSCREED Primer AP1000 to the correct required
consistency.
Design
Use
-
For fixing tiles on walls and floors.
- Available in white or grey.
-
For both thin and thick bed applications.
-
Non slumping.
-
Suitable for interior and external use.
-
Unaffected by freeze thawing cycles.
-
Suitable for showers, bathrooms, kitchens and swimming
pools.
-
Can be made to be flexible for wood or wood based
surfaces using Ecoscreed AP1000.
Substrate
Preparation
ECOSCREED
Tile Adhesive should be applied to dry primed surfaces
that are hard, sound and free from dirt, dust, oil,
grease, paint, plaster dust, laitance or other contaminants
which could act as a barrier to adhesion. Where the
floor has been contaminated by chemicals or mineral
acids, the specific advice of the ECOSCREED Technical
Department should be sought on 0836 582 033 or 01372
842 102. Gypsum plaster surfaces should be thoroughly
dry (ie >4weeks) and must be brushed off using
a stiff brush prior to priming taking place.
Priming
Priming of the prepared substrate should be carried
out using ECOSCREED Acrylic Primer AP1000 diluted to
1 part primer to 2 parts water and applied with soft
brooms. Do not use rollers. Brush off any puddles
or excess primer and allow the primer to fully dry.
Particularly absorbent or porous surfaces may require
further priming.
Wood
or wood based surfaces, eg. Plywood, should be rigidly
screwed down every 6 inches so as to prevent flexing
or vibration. They must then be fully primed with
the ECOSCREED Acrylic Primer AP1000 diluted 1 part
primer to 2 parts water. Allow primer to fully dry.
The
tile adhesive can be made flexible by using 2 litres
of Ecoscreed Primer AP1000 + 4litres of water per 22kg
bag of adhesive.
Mixing
Using a clean container always add powder to water
and ensure all the powder is properly mixed. A 22
kg bag of ECOSCREED Tile adhesive requires 6.0 litres
of water. Mix the tile adhesive to a soft slump free
mortar consistency. Ensure the tile adhesive has a
smooth consistency with no free powder lumps. The
pot life of the mixed material should be approximately
5 hours at 20ºC. The material should only be applied
at temperatures of 5ºC or above.
Fixing Application
Apply
the mixed ECOSCREED Tile Adhesive onto the prepared,
primer dried substrate using a notched trowel with
a 5mm x 5mm notch at 10mm centres for wall tiling
and a 8mm x 8mm notch at 16mm centres for floor tiling.
When tiling primed gypsum plaster surfaces then use
the thin bed technique using a 3mm x 3mm notch at
6mm centres. Always bed the tile firmly into the tile
adhesive so as to ensure complete contact.
The
open time on the applied adhesive should allow re-positioning
of the tiles up to 10 minutes after the initial fixing.
Maximum
wall tile weight per square metre on primed gypsum
plaster substrates is 20kg
Grouting
Grouting
may proceed after 24
hours at 20ºC or
as soon as the tile bed is sufficiently firm. However
this may be longer in cold conditions or where deeper
thickness of tile adhesive have been used.
We
recommend the use of ECOSCREED Tile Grout for this
work.
Coverage
Approximately 1.5kg of powder per square metre per
mm. NB: Coverage will depend
upon the substrate and tile back texture.
Packaging
ECOSCREED
Tile Adhesive is packed in three-ply net weight 22kg
paper sacks incorporating a polythene liner
Storage
ECOSCREED
Tile Adhesive has a storage life of not less than
12 months if stored in dry conditions
Precautions
ECOSCREED
Tile Adhesive is non hazardous in normal use. The
presence of cement in the product gives an alkaline
material which may cause irritation if prolonged contact
with the skin takes place. Care should be taken to
avoid inhalation or ingestion of dust and prevent
contact with the eyes. Wear suitable protective gear.
Technical
Data
Tensile

either grey, white or limestone and consists of high
quality synthetic resins, special cements, graded
sands and selected fillers. When mixed with water
it forms an extremely versatile smooth tile grout
suitable for grouting joints from 2mm up to 20mm wide.
Mix with ECOSCREED AP1000 primer to produce a flexibe
grout for use with tiles on a timber backing.
Design Use
- For
grouting tiles on walls and floors.
- Available in grey or white.
- Non slumping
- Suitable for interior and external use.
- Unaffected by freeze thawing cycles.
- Suitable for showers, bathrooms, kitchens and swimming
pools.
Substrate Preparation
ECOSCREED
Tile Grout should be applied to surfaces that are
hard, sound and free from dirt, dust, oil, grease,
paint, plaster dust, laitance or other contaminants
which could act as a barrier to adhesion. Ensure that
the tiles to be grouted are firmly fixed and that
the joints are clean.
Mixing
Using
a clean container always add powder to water and ensure
all the powder is properly mixed.
A
20 kg bag of ECOSCREED Tile Grout contains 4 x 5kg
packs. Each 5kg pack requires 1litre of water.
Mix
the tile adhesive to a soft slump free grout consistency.
Ensure the tile grout has a smooth consistency with
no free powder lumps. The pot life of the mixed material
should be approximately 2 hours at 20ºC. The material
should only be applied at temperatures of 5ºC or above.
Appilcation
Apply the mixed ECOSCREED Tile Grout into the tile
joint using a suitable rubber backed trowel or rubber
squeegee. Excess grout should be removed as work proceeds
and the tiles wiped with a damp sponge to remove any
excess grout. This should be done within 2 hours of
applying the tile grout. NB.
If a flexible grout has been made by adding ECOSCREED
AP1000 to the grout mix then this sponging down of
excess material must be done immediately so as to
avoid the material sticking to the tiles.
It
is important to note that not all tiles are the same
and for this reason we always recommend a trial application
of the grout is carried out to ascertain that the
grout does not scratch or discolour the tiles.(eg
natural stone or porous tiles)
Packaging
ECOSCREED Tile Grout is packed in three-ply net weight
20kg paper sacks incorporating 4 x 5kg packs.
Storage
ECOSCREED
Tile Grout has a storage life of not less than 12
months if stored in dry conditions.
Precautions
ECOSCREED
Tile Grout is non hazardous in normal use. The presence
of cement in the product gives an alkaline material
which may cause irritation if prolonged contact with
the skin takes place. Care should be taken to avoid
inhalation or ingestion of dust and prevent contact
with the eyes. Wear suitable protective gear Ecoscreed Limited provides the above data in good
